There are people who fully support the inauguration of Trump, but these people are not making the news in the same way that the people who are anti-Trump. Trumps actions and many of the things that he has said in the past and present have offended a lot of people. There are many people who do not agree with Donald Trump’s ideas or the way he acts. There are people in the United States who fully support the inauguration of Donald Trump, he did win the Electoral College, after all. There are also people who do not fully support Trump’s inauguration, but are willing to accept it. Despite the fact that there is a large amount of Trump supporters, they are not in the news in the same way. Trump supporters were in the news before the election, and now anti-Trump people are in the news, especially so soon before the inauguration.
Since Trump won the Electoral College’s vote on December 19, people have been announcing that they are boycotting the inauguration and some are even staging protests. Several celebrities and people who were going to attend or perform at the inauguration, have announced that they will not be attending at all, such as Sir Elton John and Celine Dion. Not just celebrities are boycotting the inauguration, though, “dozens of members of Congress have announced they will skip the event.” (Trump) As of January 18, over 50 congressmen, and women, have announced that they will not be attending the inauguration.
There are several marches and protests planned in order to protest the inauguration of Donald Trump. The protests that are already happening or are going to happen in the future are about nearly everything, from gay rights to immigration. “Tens of thousands of people are preparing to hit the streets of Washington D.C. during the 45th President's inaugural week.” (McCausl) The tens of thousands of people are all coming to protest about the inauguration of Trump, whether it be by protesting for gay rights or immigration.
Due to some of Donald Trump’s views, there are many people, anti-Trump people, who disagree with his becoming President. With the inauguration so close, anti-Trump people are making a larger scene than they have in the past. Protests are popping up all around the country, having to do with everything from gay rights to immigration. Not only are people having protests, but people are boycotting Donald Trump’s upcoming presidency.
